Psalm 5:3, “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.”

Good morning Christian, it is about 9:00 AM.  For many of us that means we have been up for a couple of hours.  The day has started and we probably have a plan for the day.  Let me ask you a question: Before you got too far into this morning, did you think to talk to God about the activities of the day?  Are you already running the plan and haven’t talked to your Heavenly Father?  Someone will say, “I don’t have time for more than a brief look at some short devotional and then I have to get to work.”  Stop and ask yourself what God has done for you.  He has saved you from an eternity in Hell.  He supplies all your needs.  He has given you everything you need for life and godliness.  He protects, provides, loves, empowers, and cares for you, without any gaps or hesitations.  We certainly should be able to give Him ample time each day to thank Him for all His blessings and ask for His help again today.

I believe it was Martin Luther who said, “I have so much to do today that I must spend the first three hours in prayer.”  So before you go any further in your day.  Why not spend some time thanking you  Heavenly Father?

Did You Think To Pray?

Mary Ann Pepper Kidder USA 1820-1905.

1.         Ere you left your room this morning,

        Did you think to pray?

In the name of Christ, our Savior,

Did you sue for loving favor

        As a shield today?

[Chorus]

Oh, how praying rests the weary!

Prayer will change the night to day.

So, when life gets dark and dreary,

        Don’t forget to pray.

2.         When your heart was filled with anger,

        Did you think to pray?

Did you plead for grace, my brother,

        That you might forgive another

        Who had crossed your way?

[Chorus]

3.         When sore trials came upon you,

        Did you think to pray?

When your soul was full of sorrow,

Balm of Gilead did you borrow

        At the gates of day?

[Chorus]

I don’t know much about Mary Ann Pepper Kidder.  She lost her husband in the Civil War.  Two of her three children died before her.  She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully.  She supported herself by her writing, poems, and songs.  Two of those songs are familiar to most: Did You Think To Pray and Is My Name Written There?

May her ministry make a difference in our lives!

In Christ,

Pastor Rob
